Neck Lift Surgery in Beverly Hills
Performing Surgeon - Dr. Sadaat
If you are looking to improve the contour of your neck and jaw line (or jowls) there are two procedures that can help. If you tend to store fat in the area of the neck, then liposuction of the neck may be recommended. If the skin and muscle in the neck and jaw line have become weak over time, then a neck lift may be recommended.
When the neck area starts aging you may notice fat deposits at the jaw line (jowls), the neck muscles may begin to separate and hang causing visible "bands", and the skin may droop causing an undesirable "turkey neck" look.
In some cases these changes are caused by the natural effects of aging, while in others having gained or lost weight is the issue. This may even be due to a hereditary factor you'd like to improve early in life.
Neck liposuction is accomplished through tiny incisions placed behind the ears and under the chin. With neck liposuction, little straw-like cannulas are used to suction the fat away. Lasers can be used to tighten loose, sagging skin under the chin.
A Neck Lift procedure creates a dramatic rejuvenation of the overall facial appearance. It tightens sagging skin and weak muscles as well as eliminates excess fat in the neck and under the jaw line.
During a Neck Lift procedure, the skin is pulled up and back and the excess skin is removed. This provides a new, more pleasing neck and jaw line. The incisions are hidden inconspicuously behind your ears. If you have visible vertical bands in your neck, the neck muscles will need to be tightened as well.
The final result is a more flattering, smoother jaw line with a restored youthful neck angle.
Usually, people who undergo this procedure are often thought to have "lost weight" or "toned up" rather than having had cosmetic surgery.
Depending on the extent of the procedure, you may have some swelling and localized bruising which can be covered with make-up. Both are generally gone within 4 to 10 days. A bandage will be placed underneath your chin and an elastic bandage is wrapped around your neck and head. The next morning you may remove the bandage. However, it is important that you continue to wear the elastic garment at night for 2 weeks.
Sutures that require removal are taken out after about a week to ten days.
Following your neck lift procedure, your neck will have a youthful, more defined profile. Recovery is relatively short and most people will return to their normal activities including work in 7-10 days.
